| Humans are created for relationship. Immanuel, defined as 'God with us' explains the ministry of Jesus as he walks 'with us'. Jesus knew that in order to radically change lives and make disciples he had to be in relationship with us. In the Gospel of John, the disciples knew Jesus was the Messiah not because he had performed amazing miracles, but because they had simply spent time with him. In fact, they ran to everyone they knew and boldly proclaimed "we have found the Messiah' (John 1:41). What a bold statement to make after spending just a day with Jesus. They knew beyond a doubt that they were walking with the Son of God.
When Jesus departed from the earth, he told us, his children, "you are the light of the world" (Matt 5:16). Jesus has sent out his followers to live as light in this world so that, like a moth to the flame, people would be drawn to the Word of God. Therefore, we have been given the opportunity to "reach non-believing youth; to connect them with other Christians; to help them grow in their faith; discover their ministry; and honor God with our lives". Therefore, it is the aim of this ministry to carry on the work of Jesus, living our lives in relationship to restore humans to their original relationship with their creator.

Melissa Foote was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario. While attending Brampton Corps from birth, she was always taught to love and serve God with her life. Melissa's desire to serve God in a ministry setting was catered to as she journeyed to William and Catherine Booth College in Winnipeg to attain her Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries.
Upon graduation, she is serving the youth in the Pickering/Ajax area while ministering at Hope Community Church. |
